Q: Where is the location of the play CATS?
A: CATS is playing at the North 4th Arts Center located at 4904 4th Street, Albuquerque, NM 87121. The play shows from August 21-September 6. For more info, I recommend visiting the Albuquerque Theatre Guild's website (http://www.abqtheatre.org) or calling the North 4th Arts Center at 505-323-2559.
Q: I’ll be in Albuquerque this fall, not sure exactly when yet. Are there any art shows in Albuquerque in September/October/November?
A: You’re in luck! Fall in Albuquerque is a lovely time to experience our art scene. I recommend:
  • Art in the park. featuring local and visiting painters, sculptors, photographers, potters, metalworkers, and crafts artisans who have been juried into the society. Live music, food, and art demonstrations highlight the event. Go to: http://www.corralesartists.org/aip/AIP1.html for specific information on dates and times.
  • 9th Annual Go! Downtown Arts Festival 2009. Stroll downtown Albuquerque at a celebration of contemporary art, sculpture photography, fashion and a myriad of other arts and crafts (www.downtownabq.com).
  • First Friday artscrawl every first Friday of the month.
Q: Hi, I'm a craftswoman, artisian. Do you know if there is any show coming this year where I can show or sale my work??
A:
Here are a number of fun options for you:

1. Rio Grande Arts & Crafts Festivals : They happen three times a year in March, October and November. Here is their website which tells you how you can become an exhibitor: www.riograndefestivals.com

2. I think it's too late for the summer New Mexico Arts & Crafts Fair (juried), but here's their web site: www.nmartsandcraftsfair.org

3. The Weems ArtFest is also a big juried show

4. On a less formal scale and lots of fun and successful for many craftspersons, most of the Growers (Farmers) Markets allow, and encourage, artists and craftspersons to be part of the markets. The links I'm giving you focus on the food, but there are many many artists and craftspersons who participate regularly.

One of the best is the Los Ranchos de Albuquerque (in the north valley) Growers Market

There's also a good market in downtown Albuquerque in Robinson Park and in Nob Hill.
Q: For public buses, do you need exact change, and how much for seniors? Need ID? I see that on Sunday, most arts venues in the Univ. area are closed. (We're staying on Menaul, no car, and have a free Sunday.) Any suggestions? THX
A:
Yes, you do need exact change to ride the bus. For seniors (65+) it costs 35 cents per trip and you will need ID.

Old Town is a good bet for Sunday: shops and restaurants will be open.  Plus the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History is open and just across the street is the Museum of Natural History, which is also open on Sunday.  There is bus access to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center where there are usually Indian Dances on Sundays at 11am.
