Tom's Pre-Launch Advice: Ballooning

Dress Sensibly

The temperature changes that make Albuquerque so perfect for hot air ballooning can catch you by surprise. It can be quite cold in the morning, which is something balloonists like because cold air is stable, but by afternoon it gets warm enough to wear nothing but a t-shirt. The temperature difference between the two can easily be 30 or 40 degrees, no matter what time of year you fly. So follow your mom’s advice and dress in layers. Oh, and be sure not to wear a dress or fancy high-heeled shoes if you plan to climb into a wicker gondola.
