Remember that Albuquerque is at an elevation of 5,000 feet, with 310 bright, sunny days per year and a pleasant dry climate. It’s beautiful and comfortable but also very different from much of the rest of the country. So, I give kids the same advice I give grown-ups who are new to the high desert. When you’re out and about, wear a hat, use plenty of sunblock and bring a canteen of water with you. And feel free to take an afternoon nap!
