Q: I am visiting Albuquerque in mid December 2011. I am trying to find out whether the biking/hiking trails around the city will still be open. Any advice you can give will be much appreciated.
A: Yes the trailing will be open from the East side of the city.  Good access from Indian school, Menaul, Montgomery, Spain or Elena Gallegos. (fee on the last one).  Will be good for mountain biking or hiking.  The trails at the end of Spain are excellent with no fee. Check out the city website for some trailmaps.
Q: My wife and I will be in town May 28-31. We would like to go hiking into the mountains and do some landscape photography. We don't mind some elevation change, but we are not technical climbers. any suggestions?
A: I would recommend the Pino or La Luz trail. Both are good. The Pino (see map) has more cover so it is cooler. Views of the mountain are both good. La Luz has nice views of the city too, but will be more crowded particularly during the weekend.
Q: What is your favorite 20-50 mile ride?
A: For a flat ride, the Bosque bike trail. For hill rides I like going to the end of the pavement through Placitas or east on Tramway from I-25.
Q: My wife and I are in our 60s and do a lot of snowshoeing in Washington state, we are planinng a trip to Albuquerque early January. While there we would like to know of a good area to snowshoe while visiting.
A:
I would recommend taking the Sandia Peak Tramway up to the crest of the Sandia Mountains. There are snow shoe specific trails on top. The Jemez and Via Caldera by Los Alamos is good too, but for Albuquerque Sandia are the closest.
Q: What is the best time of year to visit. When it isnot to hot. Where can I stay where I am close to downtown arts shopping and resturants?
A:
Albuquerque has amazing weather year-round; "310 days of sunshine" as we say. Summer can be hot, so I would recommend anytime from late September to May for weather that is not too hot. Spring and Fall are probably our best seasons for outdoor recreation, if that's why you're asking. There are many great lodging options in the downtown area where you will be close to arts & culture, shopping and dining. Check out our lodging listings to see all of the options.

Hope to see you in town soon!
Q: We are attending the balloon festival We would like to tour your city by bycyle and would like to know if the city has designated bike trails/paths? Thank you.
A: Absolutely. Albuquerque is a fantastic city for biking! Please visit www.cabq.gov/bike where you'll find an interactive trail map and more.
