Cinco de Mayo Celebration: Noche de Oro

“Noche de Oro” celebrates the rich, unique, and evolving culture of the Southwest through music and dance. Beginning with our Native American roots, the show moves on through New Mexican history with Spanish and Mexican influences and the “Go West, young man” culture of the cowboys and miners. It culminates in the vibrant mix that is 21st century New Mexico, and adds to the rich diversity of programming that the NHCC has presented in conjunction with Cinco de Mayo.

Featured performers in this exciting extravaganza of music and dance include the Mexican, Spanish, and Latin dance company Ballet en Fuego; award-winning Native American song stylist Shelley Morningsong and traditional Native American dancer Fabian Fontenelle; acclaimed recording artist Antonio Reyna; versatile mariachi group Los Primos; Cielo Los Rumberos with their jazz-influenced “nuevo flamenco” style; and contemporary Mariachi Raíces de América. Arturo Sandoval’s narration ties it all together for a “Night of Gold,” indeed!
