Ukulele Workshop with Keoki Kahumoku



AMP Concerts & Apple Mountain Music present,Fifth generation slack-key guitarist Keoki Kahumoku began performing with his father, George Kahumoku, Jr., and his uncle, Moses Kahumoku, in 1990 at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on the Big Island of Hawaii. Since then he has carved out a respected solo career, and has also appeared on dad George's award-winning Masters of Slack Key Guitar recordings. Keoki also has a passion for teaching and, with the goal of preserving tradition, especially among Hawai'i's kids, he created education programs throughout the State to teach 'ukulele and slack key guitar and, 16 years ago, founded the annual Youth 'Ukulele Players Contest on Maui. He is part of the faculty every year at his father's June workshops, as well as at his own annual Hawaiian Lifestyle workshops, that teach both music and culture. His ‘ukulele workshops can lead beginners through the basics, and participants will learn at least one song.
