Description:
Cuban art, while shown internationally, is relatively unknown inside the United States due to trade sanctions since the early 1960’s. Confluencias II: Inside Arte Cubano Contemporáneo reveals a new dialogue within the Cuban/United States cultural front by bringing together an exciting overview of the work of over 40 contemporary Cuban artists. The exhibition will introduce contemporary mixed media, painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, and video-art installations. The artists explore the complexity of the Cuban experience, exploring such themes as Afro-Cuban mythology, collectivity, and the affects of a globalized world on creativity and communication. |
