Green Transportation
Finding alternative ways of
transportation and energy are a
necessity in order to reduce both our dependency on automobiles and the
emission of greenhouse gasses.
As part of Albuquerque’s efforts,
the ABQ Ride buses run on compressed natural gas and in addition they
use hybrid buses as well. There are also specific
bus routes for commuters between other mass transit stations.
Another alternative is to hop on the
Railrunner,
a new light rail system, that by the end of the year, will run north to
Santa Fe and south to Belen, connecting the Albuquerque metro area
north to south.
Biking or walking are always excellent options to take advantage of Albuquerque's fantastic
weather.
The city also has benefits for green cars. If you own a hybrid or fuel-efficiency vehicle, you can now
apply to park for free at parking meters within the city.
