Albuquerque tops lists for affordable, accessible summer travel- Hotwire and TripAdvisor

Albuquerque was recently recognized by Hotwire.com® as one of the 2012 Top 10 Value Cities in the U.S. The recognition comes as a result of the site’s annual Hotwire® Travel Value Index study, showcasing the top 10 cities where consumers can get the most vacation for their money based on low rates, discounts, affordable entertainment and overall appeal. In addition to the Hotwire ranking, TripAdvisor® has recognized Albuquerque as one of the top 15 destinations to discover in 2012. View complete release.

 

Summer sweepstakes offers Centennial-themed vacation

To showcase the array of activities that make Albuquerque the place to be in 2012, the Albuquerque Convention & Visitors Bureau is giving away a trip. The three-night vacation revolves around the New Mexico Centennial celebration and is valued at $2,128. Travelers are encouraged to enter at www.ItsATrip.org/abqsummer through June 30, 2012. Albuquerque considered best location for viewing solar eclipse May 20th

On May 20th, the first annular eclipse in 18 years will be visible from the United States. Albuquerque is said to be the best urban location to view this "ultimate astronomical event." The type of eclipse is an annular eclipse, which occurs when the moon covers most of the sun's disk leaving a thin ring of light around the edge appearing as a "ring of fire." Several organizations in Albuquerque are inviting astronomy buffs and interested star and sky enthusiasts to visit Albuquerque for this rare viewing/educational event. View complete release.

 

Savor Albuquerque: Arts, Culture, Cuisine - June 7-16

The Savor Albuquerque festival recognizes our city's arts, culture and cuisine. The 10-day festival includes dance performances, food festivals, art exhibitions and more. Savor Albuquerque will culminate with the Centennial Summerfest on Saturday, June 16th. View complete release

 

 

 

25th Anniversary of Festival Flamenco Internacional de Albuquerque to take place in June

The National Institute of Flamenco in Albuquerque will host the 25th anniversary celebration of Festival Flamenco Internacional de Albuquerque, June 8-16, 2012. Albuquerque is known as the flamenco center of the U.S. Featuring nine days of performances by Spain’s greatest living artists, Festival Flamenco is an exciting opportunity for newcomers to entice their curiosity about the art form, and for aficionados to indulge in a flamenco immersion experience. View complete release.

 

Albuquerque celebrates New Mexico Centennial

This year, New Mexico celebrates 100 years of statehood since being admitted to the United States in 1912. This celebration includes year-long events and festivals featuring performances, educational programs and art exhibitions that depict the strong history and culture New Mexico possesses. Albuquerque's showcase event is the Centennial Summerfest that will take place in Downtown Albuquerque on June 16th, which will be the largest birthday celebration in the state. New Mexico Rail Runner expands weekend service

The new schedule will contain additional Saturday train times to provide passengers with more options between Albuquerque and Santa Fe for the upcoming summer season. View complete release.

Albuquerque Comic Expo  June 8-10, 2012 

The Albuquerque Comic Expo, or ACE, is an Albuquerque comic book, pop culture and entertainment convention. Ballet Pro Musica   August 10-12, 2012

The National Ballet of Mexico joins La Catrina String Quartet and Jacqueline Helin, piano, in a unique partnership of Virtuoso Dancers and Virtuoso Musicians. The first Ballet Festival in America exclusively based on great chamber music masterpieces. www.balletpromusica.org

 

Latin Dance Festival   August 23-26, 2012

This event showcases performacnes, social dancing to live salsa bands, weekend dance workshops and flims and lectures on the subject of Latin music dance and culture.   www.abqlatinfest.com
