Uptown

The Uptown area encompasses a major business center as well as EXPO NM, and two of Albuquerque’s major shopping malls. EXPO NM is the home to the New Mexico State Fair, one of the largest State Fairs in the country, and during the year it is a major venue for sporting events, festivals and concerts. Coronado Center and ABQ Uptown feature national department stores with nationally recognized brands.

The Uptown area is the heart of the city’s modern shopping and business district, but it is also home to EXPO NM, Home of the State Fairgrounds. Here you’ll find a wide variety of shopping, dining and lodging options, from boutique clothing shops to well-known New Mexican restaurants, high-rise hotels and mom ‘n’ pop motels.

EXPO NM Home of the State Fairgrounds is located in the Uptown area and is home to one of the nation’s largest state fairs each September. EXPO NM hosts a popular flea market every weekend, as well as regular arts and crafts shows, horse shows, concerts and sporting events at Tingley Coliseum.

The Uptown area is the site of two of the city's major shopping malls, Coronado Center (the state’s largest) and the sparkling new ABQ Uptown. Opened in November 2006, ABQ Uptown is a beautifully designed outdoor mall that boasts national boutique chains.
